Commands Not Working
Use this page if commands do not appear in Discord or if they appear but fail when you run them.
1. Refresh Discord and wait
Start here:
- Press Ctrl+R on Windows/Linux or Cmd+R on Mac
- Wait a few seconds
- Type
/again
Discord usually needs 1-5 minutes to sync commands after:
- the bot was added to a server
- a create command or page-list shortcut was added or changed
2. Check that the bot is still installed
- Open the server member list and look for NotiCord
- If it is missing, add the bot again from NotiCord
If the bot was removed after setup, Settings shows Reconnect needed for that Discord server until you add it again.
If reinstalling, wait a few minutes and refresh Discord again.
3. Check command permissions
The bot needs:
- Use Application Commands
- Send Messages
Check them in Server Settings → Roles → NotiCord.
If commands appear but say This interaction failed, missing permissions are a common cause.
4. If a custom create command such as /bug or /feature is missing
Confirm all of these:
- The Notion workspace is connected
- A create command is configured in Discord Commands
- The underlying database is shared with NotiCord in Notion
- The command name matches what you expect
After changing a create command, wait a couple of minutes and refresh Discord.
5. If a page-list command such as /pages is missing
Page-list commands appear only after a page list is configured in Discord Commands.
Confirm all of these:
- A page list is configured in Discord Commands
- The page list command matches what you expect
- The page list still points to a live database
- The underlying database is shared with NotiCord in Notion
If the command is still missing after a recent change, wait a couple of minutes and refresh Discord.
6. If the page-list command says you need to link your account
Confirm all of these:
- The page list filters a People property to is me
- Your Notion account is linked
- The underlying database is shared with NotiCord in Notion
Use Discord Commands if you need the setup flow.
7. If the command says you cannot use it
You are probably in a Discord server where NotiCord is not installed.
Make sure you are in the same server where you added the bot.
