Commands Not Working
Commands Not Showing in Discord?
If you can't see NotiCord's slash commands (like /my-tasks, /find, or custom task commands you configured), follow these steps.
Quick Fix: Refresh Discord
Try this first:
- Press Ctrl+R (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+R (Mac)
- Wait 5 seconds
- Type
/in any channel - Look for NotiCord commands
This fixes 90% of command visibility issues.
Wait After Installation
Discord needs 1-5 minutes to sync commands after the bot is added. If commands still don't appear after 5 minutes, continue troubleshooting below.
Reinstall the Bot
If commands still don't appear after 5 minutes:
- Go to Discord Server Settings → Integrations
- Find "NotiCord" and click "Remove"
- Confirm removal
- Go to NotiCord
- Follow "Add Bot to Server" flow again
- Wait 5 minutes
- Refresh Discord (Ctrl+R / Cmd+R)
Commands Show But Don't Work
"This interaction failed" Error
This usually means:
- Bot lost permissions → Check bot role has "Use Application Commands" enabled
- Bot was removed → Reinstall the bot
- Service issue → Check Discord community for status updates
Fix:
- Go to Server Settings → Roles
- Find "NotiCord" role
- Enable "Use Application Commands" permission
- Save and try again
Custom Task Commands Not Appearing
Custom commands (e.g., /bug, /feature) only appear after you complete setup. Check these prerequisites first:
Prerequisites:
- Notion workspace connected → Settings → Connect Notion Workspace
- At least one task database added → Tasks page → Connect Notion Database
- Database shared with NotiCord → In Notion, database's ... menu → Add connections → NotiCord
- Command name configured → Tasks page → Configure database → Set command name
If you haven't completed setup, see the Task Management guide for step-by-step instructions.
If you've already completed setup:
- Refresh Discord → Ctrl+R / Cmd+R
- Wait 2 minutes → Commands sync after configuration changes
- Check spelling → Command names must match exactly when typing
"You can't use this command" Error
You might be trying to use commands in a server where NotiCord isn't installed.
Fix: Ensure you're in the correct Discord server where you added NotiCord. If you are in the right server, check bot permissions in the section below.
Still Not Working?
Verify Bot is in Server
- Open Discord server member list
- Look for "NotiCord" bot
- Not there? Add bot from NotiCord
Check Bot Permissions
The bot needs these permissions:
- Use Application Commands (required for slash commands)
- Send Messages (required for responses)
Fix:
- Server Settings → Roles → NotiCord
- Enable missing permissions
- Save changes
