Fix Missing Discord Channel Permissions
Use this page when NotiCord says it cannot send notifications in a Discord channel yet or shows missing channel permissions.
1. Check the required channel permissions
NotiCord needs all of these permissions in the target channel:
- View Channel
- Send Messages
- Embed Links
- Attach Files
- Send Messages in Threads
If even one is missing, preview and live notifications can fail.
2. Fix the permissions in Discord
- In Discord, right-click the target channel
- Click Edit Channel
- Open Permissions
- Add NotiCord if it is not already listed
- Enable all required permissions for that channel
3. Decide whether to fix the category or the channel
Discord channels can either inherit permissions from their parent category or use their own custom permissions.
- Open the channel in Discord
- Click Edit Channel
- Open Permissions
- Check whether the channel shows Synced
If the channel shows Synced, fix the permissions on the parent category. Synced channels inherit that category's permissions.
If the channel does not show Synced, fix the permissions on the channel itself. If you want the channel to inherit from the category again, fix the category and then click Sync Now.
4. If the channel is no longer available
The same warning can appear if:
- the channel was deleted
- the channel moved to a type NotiCord cannot send notifications in
- the bot lost access to that part of the server
In that case, either restore access in Discord or choose a different channel in NotiCord.
5. Try again in NotiCord
After you fix the channel:
- Return to NotiCord
- Click Recheck permissions if that button is shown
- Wait for NotiCord to confirm whether the channel is ready or still blocked
- Reopen the channel picker if needed
- Select the channel again or save the form again
- If a notification rule was auto-paused, turn it back on from the notification rule list
Use Notifications Not Working if the rule is still blocked after the channel permissions are fixed.
