Account Linking

Account linking connects one Discord user to one Notion user inside NotiCord.

It is used for:

  • page-list commands that use is me
  • Assign to me
  • Discord @mentions for linked Notion people
  • notification-rule direct messages to one linked account
  • Discord DMs when a linked user is explicitly mentioned in a new Notion comment

Who is already linked

If you connected the Notion workspace during setup, your own account is linked automatically.

If that automatic link is missing, open SettingsNotion Account Link and click Link Account.

Everyone else needs the request-and-approval flow below.

How team members link their account

1. Request the link

Run /link-account in Discord.

2. Owner approves it

The subscription owner opens Linked Accounts under Account, picks the matching Notion user, and approves the request.

3. Verify it worked

Run the page-list command that uses is me, or try Assign to me.

⚠️ Notion workspace membership is required
You must already be a member of the connected Notion workspace before you can be linked.

How links are removed

  • Team members: ask the subscription owner to remove the link from Linked Accounts under Account.
  • Subscription owner: can remove any team member link from Linked Accounts under Account.
  • Subscription owner's own link: manage it in SettingsNotion Account Link.

If you connected the Notion workspace during setup, your own link starts automatically. You can still unlink and re-link that personal mapping later from Settings without disconnecting the workspace.

Removing a personal link disables page-list commands that use is me, Assign to me, linked-person mentions, and fixed-recipient DM notification rules for that user until they link again or a rule is reassigned.

It also stops personal Discord DMs for new Notion comment mentions on that linked user.

Comment mention DMs

When a linked user is explicitly mentioned in a new Notion comment, NotiCord can send that person a Discord DM summary.

  • This works only for linked users
  • The mentioned page does not need its own notification rule
  • The subscription owner controls it per linked account on Linked Accounts under Account
  • New approved links start with comment mention DMs turned on
  • The comment author does not DM themselves
  • Each DM arrives as a compact Discord embed and includes an Open in Notion button when Notion provides a page link
  • Each successful DM counts toward the subscription's notification usage

If a DM does not arrive, check Notification History and use Notifications Not Working.

What unlinking does not do

Unlinking removes only the personal Discord ↔ Notion mapping.

It does not disconnect the shared Notion workspace integration.

To remove workspace access entirely, disconnect the Notion workspace in Settings or revoke the NotiCord integration in Notion. Disconnecting the workspace removes existing rules for this subscription only.

Security note

For the personal link, NotiCord stores the Discord user ID, Notion user ID, Notion display name, and the link timestamp.
